Alen Institute for AI (AI2): Today, we're thrilled to announce that we are embarking on the creation of an open, state-of-the-art generative language model: AI2 OLMo (Open Language Model). OLMo will be comparable in scale to other state-of-the-art large language models at 70 billion parameters, and is expected in early 2024.
Matthew Honnibal: What will production NLP look like, once the dust settles around LLMs? One view is basically “prompts are all you need”. I disagree. I wrote a bit about this when we released spaCy LLM last week, but the topic deserves its own post, so here it is.
Andrew Chen: I found it useful to actually watch him tokenize a bunch of data, turn it into a tensor, use PyTorch, try various models, and step by step build a transformer - rather than just talk about it at the highest level Highly recommend taking a day or two and watching the whole thing. Just get ready to hit pause and rewatch various bits and pieces to get what he's actually saying!
